# CorgiMaps supports UCP v2026-08-25, the largest UCP release yet

UCP's biggest release yet expands store locations, adds new ways to pay and the base layer for hotel booking. CorgiMaps supported it in three days.

The Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) has published v2026-08-25, its fourth major release and the largest so far. CorgiMaps already supports it, and every workspace on UCP moves to the new version with nothing to change.

## The biggest UCP release yet

By almost any measure, v2026-08-25 is the biggest change to UCP since it launched. It took 143 changes from 40 contributors, added three new capabilities and four new extensions, and grew the number of schema files from 83 to 124. Several of those changes break existing implementations.

## Store locations become first-class

Before this release, a store location in UCP was little more than a name and an address, used only as a pickup destination. v2026-08-25 turns locations into a full capability of their own. A location can now carry:

- Its coordinates and time zone
- Weekly opening hours, plus exception hours for holidays and special days
- Amenities, such as in-store pickup and curbside pickup

Agents can search for locations near a shopper, or that serve a given address, and filter by the items a shopper wants.

Fulfillment got clearer too. Products can say, variant by variant, whether they ship, can be picked up, or both. Every fulfillment destination now states whether it's a shipping address or a business location, so an agent can't mistake a store for a ship-to address.

For brands with physical stores, this is what connects AI shopping to the store down the street.

## More ways to pay, and clearer terms

The release also adds:

- **Payment terms** for deposits, pay-later and installments
- **Split payments** across more than one payment method
- **3D Secure** card authentication inside agent flows
- **Loyalty**, so member pricing and points reach agents
- **Policies** for returns, refunds and warranties on catalog, cart, checkout and order, so agents can quote them accurately
- **Shopping permalinks** that rebuild a cart from a shareable link
- **Sale-basis quantities**, for products sold by weight or measure

## A base layer for hotels and booking

v2026-08-25 also adds the base layer for hotel and booking support. Payments and other shared building blocks moved out of the shopping-specific part of the spec into a common layer any vertical can use. Payment terms already describe a lodging-style deposit ("first night now, balance at check-in"), and the new location search works as well for hotels as it does for shoe stores. UCP also formed a Lodging Technical Council this month.

It's a clear sign UCP is becoming a protocol for more than physical goods, with additional support for lodging booking and food delivery use cases promised in upcoming releases, per the UCP website.

## Keeping up is our job

CorgiMaps continuously monitors the protocols, and our automated harness adapts CorgiMaps to new protocol requirements. That's how a release this size reached our customers three days after it shipped. For a brand's own engineering team, it would have been a major project, and the next release is never far behind. Our customers didn't have to do anything, they just supported the new UCP, automatically.

"UCP's August release shows where the protocol is heading: physical stores, more ways to pay and hospitality booking," said Jonathan Porter, co-founder and Head of Product & Engineering at CorgiMaps. "If you're building it yourself, every release is a project, and they will keep coming. CorgiMaps customers are automatically compliant with all major agentic commerce protocols."
